Purposes of writing
The writings of the Ancient Egyptians are the most reliable source of evidence that we have now about their life back then. It lets us know what they did, how the world was like, what people were interested in and their beliefs in different matters. It also explains to us what some of the monuments meant and historic events as otherwise we would not have a clue why any of this took place. They used to write everything from highly respected events to stocks in a market and everything in-between. The only restriction was that only the scribes could read and write and everyone else could only talk to communicate. This is most likely the reason why hieroglyphs didn't last longer than the Egyptians did. Through writing, the Egyptians were able to create an art form which was not possible before, literature. I think that that the Ancient Egyptians had a great advantage being able to write down mastered techniques and tips for other generations letting them build on it rather than relying on memory which could get it wrong then having to figure things out from the start again.
