Comparing and Contrasting Medicine in Ancient Egypt
and in Modern Day
Modern medicine owes a lot to the Ancient Egyptians doctors. Thanks to a study involving more than 3,000 Egyptian mummies, we can now formulate a more complete picture about what it was like to live thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt. Using the information found in such studies also allows us to investigate the evolution of the human body, disease, and how we've been able to better cope with our environment. It is clear that the Egyptians did not possess the range of knowledge about the health and disease that we have today. But their efforts in the field of medicine are very impressive, and the scrolls left behind by them helped to advance the pursuit and study of the field throughout history.
Much of what we now know of Egyptian medicine and the work of the physicians comes from a variety of medical documents, papyrus, written by these people. The various papyrus documents that have been recovered and translated to show us that the Egyptians developed an understanding of medicine. They inform us of cures to some illnesses and that they performed surgical operations. The evidence provided by these scrolls is quite remarkable of their circumstances. It shows some identified and developed cures for a wide range of diseases, many of which cures are still in use today. Such was the extent of Egyptian knowledge that there are records of over 800 medical procedures and remedies making use of over 600 drugs and a vast array of surgical tools.

Differences in Modern DayTechnology is so widely used in the advance and study of medicine. Without it, it would be so much harder to be as accomplished as we are right now. Many problems would be a mystery, and some still are, but now we have hope in finding answers. Now days, religion and magic have an impact of next to nothing on medicine as everything is based on science and facts. Medicine is more refined, effective and more practical than some of the Ancient Egyptians. We live in a developed society so the place is clean with a much reduced chance of spread diseases and food is readily available in stores so people are healthy.

Differences in Ancient Egypt
Ancient Egyptian doctors and physicians incorporated a lot of magic, religion and really weird practises into their medical treatments. They also had really different beliefs on life therefore having mummification, something that we don't do as we don't believe in the afterlife. Using basic ideas on health issues and not having the proper resources, the Egyptians did a great job in pursing and finding a way of partially conquering their fears of disease.
